TISSUE PAPER GLOSSARY

Every option, explained

Paper weights and print methods can start to blur together. Here's what each one means, so you always know exactly what you're choosing for your tissue paper.

paper weight & colour

Paper weight

Two weights, measured in gsm (grams per square metre). 17 gsm is the classic lightweight tissue — soft, translucent and easy to fold and wrap, our most popular choice. 30 gsm is heavier and more opaque, with a little more body for lining boxes and bags or wrapping heavier products.

White

A clean white tissue that shows your colours exactly as printed. The choice when your artwork needs bright, accurate colour or a crisp, minimal look.

Natural Kraft

Unbleached brown tissue with a warm, natural, tactile feel. Inks sit a touch softer on kraft, which suits earthy brands — a single dark or white spot colour looks especially good on it.

print methods

Spot colour

One to four solid ink colours, each printed as its own clean layer — the classic way to print a logo or repeat pattern on tissue. Tell us how many colours your artwork uses and we'll match them to your brand.

CMYK

Full colour printing built from four inks: cyan, magenta, yellow and black, layered to create every colour in your design. It's the choice for artwork with photography, gradients or more than four colours.

Pantone

Pre-mixed ink matched to an exact Pantone code, rather than built from CMYK layers. Worth choosing when your brand colour needs to look identical on every run, since Pantone doesn't shift the way CMYK can.
